A clear coat finish is a modern multi-layer paint system comprised of a primer, a base coat (the colour of your car), and a clear coat. The clear coat adds gloss and protects the sensitive base colour coat. It is a very resilient coat but swirls and scratches appear more obvious as light reflects through this clear coat, amplifying their appearance.
