What Causes Swirl Marks?

Swirl marks are actually microscopic scratches in the finish. Swirls are commonly caused by careless or improper car washing techniques and cloths. Swirls most often appear as a “spiders web” effect in the paint when viewed under the sun.

To avoid swirls, thoroughly wash all dirt particles from your paint finish using a quality car wash shampoo and a Meguiar’s Thick Pile Microfibre Wash Mitt [X3002] and dry with a Meguiar’s Microfibre Water Magnet Drying Towel X2000] before applying polish or wax. Never use rags or brushes on your paint and store your microfibre towels safely where they wont get dusty. Wash these after use to ensure they remain clean and free of abrasive particles.
